Carolynn Helton's Classes
This site shows all the classes I have taught or currently teach. My goal is to have all the curriculum available here online for students, parents and myself. Currently I am teaching Photography/Yearbook, Art Exporations, Video/Media, Leadership and Mixed Media Arts at ERCLC (Eleanor Roosevelt) .
This presentation is the core of this project. There are images of Art (giving insight into art history and artists) depicting each of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design with a short description.
Elements of Art and Principals of Design
Sweetwater School District Teachers:
Beatrice and I worked on Sweetwater School District versions of the poster and you can print and use these in your classrooms. The four images to the right, click to enlarge, save and print them. They are Large (up to 20"x30")

For this project, each section will be using different media you have been using and learning in class so far. At times, some sections will be used to teach new skills and subjects.

The first section is Line. There are four works of art you will create for this. You will start in Photoshop File/new and make the image 4 inch by 4 inch and 300 resolution/dpi for each of the four. Use drawing, watercolors, photos and such but ALL MUST BE 100% YOURS! No stealing images from the internet.

We are starting with Elements of Art - 1. Line w Direction and 2. Tone, texture and Pattern. You will work on both of these two at the same time. They will be due in a week and a half, so currently that is October 18th.

We have moved on to other sections but all rules above apply. SAVE ALL ELEMENTS OF ART PROJECTS TO THE ELEMENTS OF ART FOLDER UNDER YOUR NAME ON DROPBOX.

You can use past watercolor textures, make new ones, paint realistic images to be added, draw and use the cameras during class time to photograph items within eye sight of the door. Using Macro lenses and or macro clips for images on campus will help give more interesting images as the campus is lacking in variety. You can use your cell phone to take photos outside of school.

Look to the Presentation above for references or the photos below, but each needs to not just be a photo and have many layers. How many? It depends on how much work you put into using artwork and photos together. More detailed artwork might need less layers. I am looking at effort and a quality image in the end.

Follow instructions on the presentation. You need to have two elements go off the page/image. You can use a variety of art media but it needs to be photographed and brought into Photoshop for the final image.
