This site shows all the classes I have taught or currently teach. My goal is to have all the curriculum available here online for students, parents and myself. Currently I am teaching Photography/Yearbook, Art Exporations, Video/Media, Leadership and Mixed Media Arts at ERCLC (Eleanor Roosevelt) .
Self Portraits
Lesson:
Self Portrait:
Your Self Portrait can be created from a variety of choices but which ever you choose, it needs to reflect some aspect of your personality. Choose one of the styles below for ideas to get started, but it can venture into other styles as well. They can be in any media you choose.
Objective:
To think about who you are and how to express that in an artwork. Reflect on the styles we have learned this year and how to tie that into that expression of you.
Requirements:
You will create a final artwork based on all that you have learned in art and show that reflected in a self portrait that depicts who you are, or expresses an aspect of you.
-
1) Realistic. This shows details, shadows and a likeness of you. You can choose to work from a current photo or one of you as a kid or an important time in your life.
-
2) App/Filtered photo to work from. Create an artistically altered photo of you through apps and filters on the phone or computer and work from that to create your self portrait.
-
3) Faceless Self Portrait. This one depends on lots of other information to tell about you from the expressive use of paint or media to elements of other objects in the artwork.
-
4) Search google for ideas on your own style of self portrait. Find your own thing and create a self portrait artwork that reflects who you are.
